Education plan

International Education, academic excellence and emotional training

It is our priority to provide our students with a global vision of the world in which we live, and the skills required to achieve academic and personal success.
Our hallmarks are an international education, academic excellence, emotional training, a maximum content curriculum, forming respectful and self-confident citizens; a wide range of extracurricular and sports activities; as well as personalized attention to the student and families.

Our educational project derives from the latest research in neuroeducation and psychology. It promotes students’ personal initiative, decision making as well as emotional and academic balance that allows them to face a society in a process of permanent change, developing in our students the skills required for success in the society of the 21st century. (21st CENTURY SKILLS). It is based on the following educational fields.

Neuroeducation
Our methodology is developed and evolves using knowledge about how the brain of a student works, integrated with psychology, sociology and medicine, in an attempt to improve and enhance both the learning and memory processes of students, as well as our teachers´ pedagogic approaches.

Design Thinking
We firmly believe in learning based on critical and creative thinking. The key to fostering “Design thinking” is in leadership, which develops significant growth and encourages testing alternative solutions and new procedures such as; Experimental learning, "students in the real world", comprehension projects or teaching for global understanding. These thinking strategies contribute to students becoming aware of their own mental processes, helping them to act reflexively and critically.

Personalised Learning
Our students are at the centre of our educational project, accompanied by a tutor who guides them to learn and to think for themselves, (Howard Gardner MIT” Their Intelligence is a consequence of the sum of what is available in the culture that surrounds them, the degree of personal motivation they achieve and the quality of the teaching they receive”).

The activities within the classroom are organized to become a social and academic experience of cooperative learning by developing a series of elements such as positive interdependence, individual responsibility, collaborative skills and group processing. When working in a team effectively, the unification of constructive energies emerges. This causes the efforts made by the members to be enhanced, reducing the time of action and increasing efficiency in the results.

ENGLISH
The English language is taught from Pre-school education to high school.

One of the objectives of the Liceo Mediterráneo School is for high school students to be certified in Advanced (C1 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) by the University of Cambridge.
Even more advanced students prepare with us the Proficiency, the higher level C2, which accredits them as university English natives.

Both certifications are very difficult to achieve in Spain by non-native students, which is why our Centre received recognition from the University of Cambridge, making us an official examination centre.

University of Cambridge

GERMAN
The German language is taught from the first year of primary to high school.

Students prepare throughout the year to take the following external level exams with the Goethe Institut - Fit in Deutsch 1 (A1), Fit in Deutsch 2 (A2), Start Deutsch 1 and Start Deutsch 2.

Goethe Intitut is a world leader in German language training. The Liceo Mediterráneo exams coincide with the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, from level A1 to C2, the highest language level.

Liceo Recycle project: reduce, reuse, recreate
In today's world, recycling is no longer an option, it is a necessity within a social coherence that wants to improve the environment with creative actions and projects. The combination of Rethink, Recycle and Reduce has become a value within the market that demands ecological designs and truly recycled projects.

In our Liceo Recycle Project, actions are developed that allow the recycling process to be carried out at the Liceo Institution, recognising the importance of recycling as a way to reduce the levels of environmental pollution. The fundamental objective of our Project is to teach our students to become aware of the care and conservation of the environment and recycling as an important option to protect natural resources and improve life on our planet.
TIZZY Project. Emotional atmosphere - Confidence
Students learn and develop in a caring and emotionally safe and positive climate, enhancing their personal success and self-esteem. Our students learn to understand how they can influence, in an adaptable and intelligent way both their emotions and their interpretation of the emotional states of others.

This aspect of the human psychological dimension has a fundamental role both in our way of socialising and in the strategies of adaptation to the environment that we live in. It is, in essence, emotional learning for the future life of our students.
Information and Communication Technology
ICT is present in the school curriculum of our centre at all educational levels: Pre-school, Primary, Secondary and Baccalaureate. Our classrooms are equipped with ICT tools that help us in the teaching/learning process of our students: broadband WIFI, digital whiteboards, projector and audio system in all classrooms of the centre as work tools, Chromebooks in 1: 1 model (one device per student) from 5th grade to high school, with specific educational software for each subject. In this sense, the Colegio Liceo Mediterráneo has been a pioneer and innovator in the province with programs that improve educational quality, adapting the technological advances that we consider interesting for the education of our students; for example, the implementation of the 1: 1 model with the GOOGLE FOR EDUCATION (G SUITE) tools and a creative pack consisting of applications such as Texthelp + Explain Everything + Wevideo, using “Securly” to filter navigation.

The School has applied the use of this Platform because it allows students and teachers to easily weave a network of knowledge and collaboration, favouring investigation and monitoring of teaching units and tasks that teachers post on the digital platforms, giving the families easy access.
